Tuscan meatballs on pasta

Tuscan meatballs on pasta

Family favourite. Just change the herbs for winter or summer flavours.


  • 500 grams lean pork mince
  • ½ cup chopped fresh herbs or 1 tablespoons dried mixed herbs
  • 1 onion, finely diced
  • ½ cup fresh breadcrumbs
  • ½ cup red wine or chicken stock
  • 400 gram can chopped tomatoes in juice or 500 gram jar tomato pasta sauce
  • 2 stalks celery, finely chopped
  • 1 courgette, finely diced
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • fettuccini or spaghetti for 4


  1. In a bowl mix together the mince, herbs, onion and bread. Roll into 24 balls.
  2. Brown the meatballs evenly in a dash of oil in a frying pan. Add the red wine or stock and simmer 5 minutes.
  3. Stir in the tomatoes, celery, courgettes and paprika. Cover and simmer for 20 minutes.
  4. Arrange pasta in warm pasta bowls and top with the meatballs and sauce. Garnish with grated parmesan cheese.

Cooks Tips

For fresh herbs try:

Winter – thyme, parsley, oregano and/or a little rosemary

Summer – basil, chives, parsley
