Ingredients
- 20 slices sandwich bread, wholemeal or plain
- 50 grams melted butter
- 340 gram tin asparagus spears
- about 4 slices ham, optional
- 20 slices processed cheddar cheese
Method
- Trim the crusts from the bread and brush one side of each slice with melted butter. Place buttered side down on a board.
- Drain the asparagus. Cut the ham slices into small pieces if using. Place a slice of processed cheddar on top of each slice of bread. Top with a piece of ham and asparagus spear placed on the diagonal.
- Roll up and secure with a toothpick. Place asparagus side down on an oven tray.
- Grill until the under side on the bread is golden, turn the rolls over the right way and just brown lightly. Do not grill the asparagus heads. Serve warm.
Cooks Tips
- As a variation, use chicken and tomato slices.
