Swiss Bircher muesli

I've made this traditional muesli with porridge mix, but you can use ordinary rolled oats.


  • 1 cup porridge mix or rolled oats
  • 1 cup hot water
  • 4 medium-sized apples
  • ¼ cup condensed milk
  • ¼ cup lemon juice
  • 1 cup natural sweetened yoghurt
  • 2-3 tablespoons honey


  1. Combine the porridge or oats with the hot water in a bowl. Stand overnight or for at least four hours. The porridge will soak up the water and it will turn into a thick glug.
  2. Peel and grate the apples and mix into the porridge and water with the condensed milk and lemon juice. Pour into the base of a large glass serving bowl.
  3. Pour the yoghurt over the porridge and then drizzle the honey on top. Serve with summer fruit.
