Try these with a roast of pork or, for a change, make the recipe with pears.
Ingredients
- 6-8 medium-sized red-skinned apples
- 2 tablespoons prepared mustard
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons rum, orange juice or water
Method
- Preheat the oven to 190ÂșC.
- Peel the apples to about halfway down or in a circular pattern. Place the apples in a small ovenproof dish - one that they fit snugly into.
- Mix together the mustard, sugar and rum, juice or water. Brush the apples with half the mixture.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour or until the apples are tender. Baste with the remaining glaze, halfway through the cooking time.
Cooks Tips
Variations: - Add 1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger. - Core the apples and fill the hollowed centres with raisins or sultanas.
