Sweet mustard baked apples

Sweet mustard baked apples

Try these with a roast of pork or, for a change, make the recipe with pears.


  • 6-8 medium-sized red-skinned apples
  • 2 tablespoons prepared mustard
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons rum, orange juice or water


  1. Preheat the oven to 190ÂșC.
  2. Peel the apples to about halfway down or in a circular pattern. Place the apples in a small ovenproof dish - one that they fit snugly into.
  3. Mix together the mustard, sugar and rum, juice or water. Brush the apples with half the mixture.
  4. Bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour or until the apples are tender. Baste with the remaining glaze, halfway through the cooking time.

Cooks Tips

Variations: - Add 1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger. - Core the apples and fill the hollowed centres with raisins or sultanas.
