Spicy new potatoes with roasted garlic dressing


  • 600 grams medium-sized new potatoes, scrubbed
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 teaspoons garam masala
  • ½ teaspoon lemon rind
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon pepper

Roasted garlic dressing

  • 1 bulb garlic
  • 250 grams light sour cream
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoon each chopped chives and parsley


  1. Cook the potatoes. Cool, drain and cut the larger ones in half.
  2. Heat the butter in a large pan. Add the garam masala, lemon rind, salt and pepper. Add the potatoes and cook over a medium heat, tossing, until the potatoes are slightly browned and well flavoured. Serve warm or cold with Roasted Garlic Dressing.

Roasted Garlic Dressing

  1. Wrap garlic bulb in tin foil and bake at 180ºC for an hour or until it's well cooked. Cool.
  2. Cut the garlic bulb in half horizontally and squeeze the pulp into a food processor. Add the sour cream and salt and process until smooth. Pulse in the chives and parsley.
