The flavours of stroganoff – mushrooms and cream are a winning combination.
Ingredients
- 4 pork steaks
- salt and pepper to season
- 2 tblsp Oil
- 250 grams mushrooms, sliced
- 1 tsp minced garlic
- 1/4 cup brandy (optional) or use chicken stock
- 250 gram tub sour cream
- 1 tblsp sour prepared mustard
- 2-3 gherkins, finely chopped
- about 2-3 cups cooked pasta (your favourite shape)
Method
- Season the pork steaks with salt and pepper and cook in the oil in a hot pan for about 8 minutes in total, turning once until the pork is tender. When you pierce the steaks their juices should be clear, not pink. Set aside and keep warm.
- Add the mushrooms and garlic to the pan and cook 1-2 minutes before adding the brandy (if using), sour cream, mustard and gherkins. Season with salt and pepper.
- Toss about three quarters of the sauce through the pasta. Serve the pork on pasta with your favourite vegetables and remaining sauce on the side.
