Orzo With Minted Peas

This dish could be served at lunch or as an accompanying dish for dinner.


  • 2 cups orzo pasta
  • 2 Tblsp oil
  • 4-5 rashers bacon, finely chopped
  • 2 tsp minced fresh garlic
  • 2 cups frozen minted peas
  • grated rind one lemon
  • 300 ml bottle cream
  • 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • salt and pepper to season


  1. Cook the orzo pasta in boiling salted water for 10 minutes or until tender.
  2. Heat the oil in a frying pan and quickly cook the bacon and garlic until the bacon is just crispy. Add the peas, lemon rind, cream and parmesan and heat through. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
  3. Drain the cooked pasta and toss with the creamy peas and bacon.
