Orange rum-soaked prunes

Orange rum-soaked prunes


  • 2 cups water
  • 2 cups orange juice, strained
  • 2x 340 gram packets pitted prunes
  • 2 tablespoons dark rum
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 4 tablespoons toasted flaked almonds to garnish (optional)


  1. Put the water and orange juice into a saucepan with the prunes and simmer gently for 30 minutes until the prunes are plump.
  2. Add the rum and brown sugar and stir only until the sugar has dissolved.
  3. Remove from the heat and cool. Refrigerate until ready to serve. Can be served warm or cold, garnished with toasted almonds.

Cooks Tips

- Toast flaked almonds at 180ºC for 5-6 minutes until golden.
