If you love chocolate then try this - with a liquer coffee or a glass of port.
Ingredients
- 275 grams Energy Chocolate, roughly chopped
- 250 grams unsalted butter
- 6 eggs, at room temperature
- 2 cups brown sugar
- 1 cup flour
- icing sugar to serve
Method
- Melt the chocolate and butter in the top pan of a double boiler over simmering water. Remove from the heat and allow to cool.
- In a clean bowl beat the eggs and sugar together until they are light and fluffy. Fold the cooled chocolate and sifted flour into the egg mixture.
- Pour into a well-greased, floured and lined 23cm square cake tin. Bake at 180ÂșC for 35-40 minutes. The cake should still be moist in the middle. Allow to cool completely on a cake rack before turning out.
- Cut into small squares to serve and dust with icing sugar. Makes a large number as it is rich and delicious.
Heart Template
- Take a piece of baking paper about 10cm square and fold it in half. Beginning in the fold at the top, with scissors cut out half a heart shape so that when you open the paper out, you have an even shaped heart. Place the heart shape in the centre of the square of cake, decorate the top of the cake with icing sugar.
