Kumara And Onion Bhajias

Serve these crispy morsels hot sprinkled with a spicy paprika and cumin shake.

Ingredients

  • 2 orange kumara, peeled and grated (or one orange kumara and one potato)
  • 1 onion, peeled and grated
  • 1 cup chickpea flour
  • ½ cup rice flour (or use cornflour)
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tblsp curry paste
  • 1 tsp minced chilli
  • 1 tblsp chopped fresh coriander
  • 1 cup water

Paprika and Cumin Shake

  • 2 tsp each salt, ground cumin and paprika
  • 2 tblsp toasted sesame seeds

Method

  1. In a bowl mix together the kumara, onions, chickpea flour, rice flour, baking powder, salt, curry paste, chilli, coriander and water to make a thick mixture.
  2. Deep fry spoonfuls of the mixture in hot oil for 3-4 minutes until they rise to the top are golden and cooked.
  3. Sprinkle over the Paprika and Cumin Shake and serve immediately.

  1. Mix all the ingredients together
