Kid's Favourite Mince

Kid's Favourite Mince

This is a great way to get the kid's to eat their vegetables.


  • 500 grams lean beef or lamb mince
  • 1 small onion, finely diced
  • 1 tablespoon Vegemite
  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • ½ cup tomato or condensed tomato soup
  • 1½ cups beef stock
  • 1 large kumara, peeled and diced
  • 3 cups frozen mixed vegetables or diced left-over cooked vegetables


  1. Brown the mince in a lidded frying pan and set aside. Cook the onion until lightly browned, adding a dash more oil if required.
  2. Mix together the marmite, flour, tomato paste and stock and pour into the pan. Return the mince to the pan with the kumara and stir to mix evenly.
  3. Cover and simmer for 10-15 minutes until the kumara is almost cooked.
  4. Scatter the frozen vegetables on top, cover and simmer a further 10 minutes. Serve on toasted hamburger buns with tomato sauce.
