Honey Nougat Slice

Honey Nougat Slice

This slice may be chewy but it is delicious.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup self rising flour
  • 3-4 cup sugar
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1 cup desiccated coconut
  • 125 grams butter, melted
  • 2 tblsp creamed or runny honey
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • 0 few drops vanilla essence
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans

Method

  1. Sift the flour into a bowl. Stir in the oats, sugar and coconut.
  2. Beat together the melted butter, honey, egg and vanilla essence and mix into the dry ingredients with the nuts.
  3. Spread the mixture into a well-greased and lined 20cm x 30cm slice tin.
  4. Bake at 160°C for 25-30 minutes until cooked. Cool in the tin for 10 minutes before spreading over the Honey Icing.

Honey Icing

  1. Blend together 2 cups sifted icing sugar with 2 tblsp softened butter and 3 tblsp honey together, adding a dash of milk to make an icing of spreadable consistency if needed.
