
A tasty variation on a popular Italian favourite.
Ingredients
- 500 grams lean beef mince
- ½ onion, peeled and finely diced
- ¼ cup chopped fresh herbs (parsley or celery leaves)
- 737 gram jar tomato, bolognaise-style sauce (see Cook's Tip)
- 250 grams large shell pasta
- 1¼ cups water (or use ½ wine and ½ water)
- 100 grams each crumbled feta and grated cheddar
Method
- In a bowl mix together the beef mince, onion, herbs and 1 cup of the bolognaise-style sauce.
- Cook the pasta shells in boiling salted water for 5 minutes only, drain well.
- Mix the remaining Bolognaise-style sauce with the water and or wine and pour over the base of a large lasagne-style baking dish.
- Place the half-cooked pasta shells into the dish and fill each with an equal amount of mince mixture. Sprinkle over the cheeses.
- Bake at 180ºC for 35-40 minutes until hot and golden and the meat is cooked. Serve with vegetables or a salad.
