Berries in a Jar

Grab a pile of summer's best berries, layer in a jar with a sprinkling of lavender or rose petal sugar, and cover with a dash of rose to take on a picnic. (The perfect jars can be found - with my name on them - at your local Warehouse) For a non-alcoholic version, the wine can be left out all together, or use blackcurrant or another favourite red fruit juice in place of the rose.

Ingredients

  • 2 punnets berries of your choice
  • 1-2 tablespoons sugar
  • few spikes lavender or small handful rose petals
  • 1/2 cup chilled rose wine - or therabouts

Method

  1. Trim any berries and cut large ones in half. Place the sugar in the base of a sealable jar and scatter the lavender spikes or rose petals on top. Pile the berry fruits into the jar and pour over the wine; enough to just about cover the fruit. Chill before serving. Serve within the day of making.
