Sambuca Melting Moments

Here is something sweet to finish off the drinks party with.

Ingredients

  • 250 grams butter
  • ½ cup icing sugar
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 cup custard powder
  • 125 grams butter
  • 1 tblsp Black Sambuca
  • ½ cup icing sugar

Method

  1. Beat the butter well until light. Continue beating in the sifted icing sugar until fluffy and pale. This is best done with a wooden spoon.
  2. Sift the flour and custard powder together and mix gently into the creamed mixture. Turn the mixture onto a floured bench and press together. Allow to rest for 20 minutes.
  3. Roll out the dough and cut into small shapes. We have used baby-sized 2.5cm heart and star cutters. Remember to cut an even amount of each. Place on a greased tray and bake at 180°C for 12 minutes. Cool.
  4. Join similar shaped cookies with the Sambuca Butter Icing.
  5. Butter icing - Beat the butter and sifted icing sugar together until very pale. Beat in the Sambucca

Cooks Tips

- Sambuca is an aniseed liqueur. If you do not have any, try another favourite liqueur.
